Caring For Action Figures - Some Guidelines

Whether you collect action figures as a hobby, as a toy or as an investment you should be aware of how to care for your action figures.

Below are some basic guidelines for keeping your action figures in mint condition...

Action Figure Storage Guidelines

If you plan to keep your action figures stored - make sure you remove any batteries.

Before storing ensure that your figures are clean as over time dust and dirt may damage them. An ideal way to remove surface dust is to use canned air which is sometimes purchased for cleaning computers.

Action figures should always be stored out of direct sunlight. Failure to do this can result in fading, cracking and brittleness.

Humid environments should also be avoided.

Action Figure Handling Guidelines

The level to which you handle your action figures can be dependent on your reason for owning them. Someone who purchases action figures as an investment should avoid handling them without gloves. The human hand contains grease and various oils which can affect color.

Price tags should be carefully removed. When stuck to plastic price tags may be removed using luke warm water (Not too hot!). When a price tag is placed on card it can be more difficult to remove - commercial products such as goo-gone can be used but it is important to be careful.

Following these tips should help conserve your action figures and help maintain them for years to come.
